Why not adopt an unmaintained open source project
These project are marked as unmaintained because
- there is a statement from the original author
- the project hasn't been updated for a long time

- send an eMail the original author and inform him of your plan!
- set the status to "maintained"
- update the homepage URL, download URL, and other fields, if necessary.
